than one sixth the same number.
Make the number = 'x'
x/2 = 7 + x/6
Common denominator = 6
3x = 42 + x
Collect like terms
3x - x = 42
2x = 42
x = 21
Proof:
21/2 = 7 + 21/6
(7 = 42/6)
21/2 = 42/6 + 21/6
21/2 = 63/6
10.5 = 10.5
