Let x = time it takes them to do the paper route together.

This means that in 1 minute, together they can do 1%2Fx+ of the paper route.

In 1 minute working alone, Candy can do 1/70th of the route, and in 1 minute working alone, Tim can do 1/80th of the route.

The equation is that the part Candy can do in 1 minute + the part that time can do in 1 minute = the part they can do together in 1 minute:
1%2F70+%2B+1%2F80+=+1%2Fx

The LCD is 560x, so multiply both sides of the equation by 560x:
