You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hi there,
The gradient of y = 2x - 5
= 2
Lines that are perpendicular
to one another have gradients that
multiply together to give -1
m1 x m2 = -1
2 x m2 = -1
m2 = -1/2
Using the line equation
y - b = m(x - a)
Utilising m = -1/2 and (3,-5)
y - (-5) = -1/2(x - 3)
y + 5 = -1/2(x - 3)
y + 5 = -1/2x + 3/2
y = -1/2x + 3/2 - 10/2 (5)
y = -1/2x - 7/2
or
2y = -x - 7
Hope this helps:-)
