You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1. Find the LCM of the denominators 8, 5, 20:
8: 8, 16, 24, 32, 40
5: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40
20: 20, 40
Therefore, 40 is the LCM.
2. Multiply each fraction of the equation by 40, which will give us:
15 + 32 = 2x
3. Add 15 and 32, giving us:
47 = 2x
4. Divide both sides by 2, giving us:
47/2 = x ----->
23.5 = x
You should be able to use either 47/2 or 23.5 or 23 1/2 as your answer, unless you are told you can only use one of the three.
