Question 980514: Good evening, can you please help me with this problem in trigonometry?

Two pulleys, one 6 in. and the other 2 ft. in diameter, are connected by a belt. The larger pulley revolves at the rate of 60 rpm. Find the linear velocity in ft./min. and calculate the angular velocity of the smaller pulley in rad/min.

Thank you...

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Two pulleys, one 6 in. and the other 2 ft. in diameter, are connected by a belt. The larger pulley revolves at the rate of 60 rpm. Find the linear velocity in ft./min. and calculate the angular velocity of the smaller pulley in rad/min.
---------------
Circumference = pi*d = 2pi ft
LV = 2pi ft * 60 rev/min = 120pi ft/min
---------
The smaller pulley is 1/4 the diameter --> 4x the rpm = 240 rev/min
Each revolution = 2pi radians
w = 240*2pi rad/min
