Question 980512: Good evening, I need a little help for my trigonometry please
A pulley with radius of 10 in. uses a belt to drive a pulley with a radius of 6 in. Find the angle through which the smaller pulley turns as the 10-inch makes one revolution.
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The linear distance travelled by the belt if the larger pulley makes one rev is:
s = r*theta = 10*2*pi = 20*pi
Since the belt is coupled to the smaller pulley, it also moves the same linear distance:
20*pi = 6*theta
theta = 20*pi/6 = 10/3*pi ~10.47 radians
