Hi there,
5x + 8y = -5
Sort into y = mx + c
8y = -5x - 5
y = -5/8 - 5/8
.........
-x - 1.6y = 14
Sort into y = mx + c
-1.6y = x + 14
y = x/-1.6 + 14/-1.6
..............
The two gradients
-5/8 = 1/-1.6
Therefore the lines are parallel
and will never intersect.
Their only difference is their y intersections.
