You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Since you know that for every 3 boys there are 5 girls, you can multiply the numbers by a common number and the ratio will stay the same. I will multiply by 2:

3%3A5
6%3A10

In the ratio 6:10 there are 4 more girls than boys, let me try again.

6%3A10
12%3A20

There are now 8 more girls than boys, so you know there are 32 pupils in the class.

Assume that boys are x then the girls are x+8. since their ratio is 3/5 we write:
x%2F%28x%2B8%29=3%2F5 solving this equation for x different then 8 we get:
5x=3%28x%2B8%29
5x-3x=24
2x=24
x=12
The boys are 12 and the girls 12+8=20.
