You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5X/6-X/2=6
(5X-3X)/6=6 CROSS MULTIPLY:
2X=36
X=18 ANSWER.
PROOF
5*18/6-18/2=6
90/6-9=6
15-9=6
6=6

if one-half a number is subtracted from five-sixths of the number, the difference is 6. Find the number.
--------------
Let the number be "x"
---------------
EQUATION:
(5/6)x - (1/2)x = 6
Multiply thru by 12 to get rid of the denominators:
10x - 6x = 72
4x = 72
x = 18
