Question 97897: I am still confused on this problem. I had submitted it previously but I do not understand, may I get some more help on this problem?
Geometry. The volume of the box is represented by (x^2 + 5x + 6)(x + 5). Find the polynomial that represents the area of the bottom of the box.
The box is 2 dementional and the side is x + 2.
I do not understand what polynomial they are looking for if you can help I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance. Answer by mathslover(157) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Volume of the box=(x^2 + 5x + 6)(x + 5)
= (x+2)(x+3)(x+5) factorising the first expression
Given the side is (x+2)
area of the base(A) * side = volume of the box
A*(x+2)=(x+2)(x+3)(x+5)
A=(x+3)(x+5) is the area of the bottom surface
=x^2 + 8x + 15
