You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I'm not sure I understand the question as written.
50 students passed English
60 students passed math
---
100 students passed English OR math. However:
50 students passed English
40 students passed English (they also passed math)
---
90 students passed English. And,
60 students passed math
40 students passed math (they also passed English)
---
100 students passed math
...........
So, to your question:
90 students passed English and 100 students passed math. HOWEVER:
50 students passed English only and 60 students passed math only.
We are not double counting, the total number of students is still 50+60+40=150, it's just that we are dealing with two subjects, English and math.
