You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2(x-1)=(y+1)
y-1=x+1 or y=x+2
2(x-1)=X+2+1
2x-2=x+3
2x-x=3+2
x=5 answer.
2(5-1)=y+1
2*4=y+1
y=8-1
y=7 answer.
5 gives 1 to 7 then 5-1=4 & 7+1=8 then 2*4=8
7 gives 1 to 5 the 7-1=5+1 or 6=6

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=you m=me and/or I
2(m-1)=y+1...2m-2=y+1...2m-y=3
m+1=y-1...m-y=-2
2m-y=3
m-y=-2
---------subtract the second from the 1st or change all the signs on the bottom and add
m=5
substitute 5 for m in the second equation. 5-y=-2...-y=-7...y=7
Ans. you has 7 apples and me and/or I has 5
Check:
If I gave you one apple you will have twice as many as I do(5-1=4 7+1=8). However, if you give me one apple, we will both have the same amount(5+1=6 7-1=6).
