Question 978396: I'm asked to express f(x) in the form f(x) = (x-k)q(x)+r for a given value of k: f(x)=5x^3+x^2+x-7. I understand how to do synthetic division, what I don't understand is what the form (x-k)q(x)+r for a given value of k is. Answer by josgarithmetic(39620) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Your problem description or question is incomplete because you show no value for k. The best you could do is try to factorize the function f(x). A quick check with a graph through google.com suggests f might have ONE real root at or extremely near +1. The other two roots are complex.
