How old is she now?

let a = her age now
a + 5 = 3(a-9)
a + 5 = 3a - 27
5 + 27 = 3a - a
32 = 2a
a = 32/2
a = 16 yrs now

Let x be the Reshma's age now.

9 years ago Reshma age was (x-9).
After 5 years Reshma's age will be (x+5).
According to the condition, you have an equation

x+5 = 3*(x-9).

Solve it by simplifying step by step:

x + 5 = 3x - 27,
x - 3x = -27 - 5,
-2x = -32,
2x = 32,
x = 32/2 = 16.
