Question 977891: There were 225 chicos in box A and 31 chicos in box B. when an equal number of chicos are added in each box the number of chicos in box A was three times that in box B. how many chicos were added in each box?
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hi there,
Make the number of chicos added to
box A and B = x
(Box A + x) = 3(Box B + x)
(225 + x) = 3(31 + x)
Remove brackets
225 + x = 93 + 3x
Collect like terms
x - 3x = 93 - 225
-2x = -132
Multiply both sides by -1
2x = 132
x = 66
This is the number of chicos added to
each of the boxes.
225 + 66 = 3(31 + 66)
291 = 3(97)
291 = 291
Hope this helps:-)
