Question 977008: The top floor is a rectangle and has a perimeter of 520 ft. The width of the top floor measures 20ft more than one half its length. What are the dimensions of the top floor? Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Breadth = Length/2 + 20
Perimeter = 2 x length + 2 x Breadth
520ft = 2L + 2(L/2 + 20)
520ft = 2l + L + 40 (Multiplied out)
520ft = 3L + 40
520 - 40 = 3L
480 = 3L
Therefore Length = 160ft
Breadth = 100ft (160/2 + 20)
Hope this helps:-)
