You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find the distance between the pair of parallel lines, y = x-11 & y = x-7 (slope,m=1)
equation of a line perpendicular to pair of given lines: y=-x (slope,m=-1)
Point of intersection between perpendicular line and one of the parallel lines:
-x=x-11
2x=11
x=11/2=5.5
y=-5.5
point of intersection: (5.5,-5.5)
..
Point of intersection between perpendicular line and other parallel line:
-x=x-7
2x=7
x=7/2=3.5
y=-3.5
point of intersection: (3.5,-3.5)
..
Use distance formula to find the distance between the 2 points of intersection
d=√(x1-x2)^+(y1-y2)^2)=√(5.5-3.5)^2+(-5.5-(-3.5))=√(4+4)=√8
distance between the pair of parallel lines=√8
