You can put this solution on YOUR website!
B BEING THE MID POINT OF AC THEN AB=BC.
8V+8V=3V+42 [AB+BC=AC]
16V=3V+42
16V-3V=42
13V=42
V=42/13
V=3.23
PROOF
8*3.23+8*3.23=3*3.23+42
25.84+25.84=9.68+42
51.68=51.68

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
draw a line on paper. on th left end of the line put an A. on the right end put a C. Dead in the middle put a dot. above the dot write B.
on the line between A and B write 8v. since B is the midpoint we know that line BC=8v also. Also, AC (the whole line)=3v+42
so, 2*8v=3v+42
16v=3v+42
subtract 3v from both sides. 13v=42
divide 13 into both sides. v=3.23
what is BC? v8. and v=3.23. Therefore v8=3.23*8=25.84
BC=25.84
Check:
2*25.84=3*3.23+42
51.68=51.69 (rounding error of .01)
