You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3x + 1 = (x - 5) / 2
Multiply both sides by 2 to clear fractions.
6x+2=x-5
5x+2=-5 subtracting x from both sides
5x=-7, subtracting -2 from both sides
x=(-7/5), dividing both sides by 5
-(21/5)+1=[(-7/5)-(25/5)]/2
-16/5= (-32/5)/2, and that is -16/5 check.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
+3x+%2B+1+=+%28%28+x+-+5+%29%29+%2F+2+
Multiply both sides by +2+
+6x+%2B+2+=+x+-+5+
Subtract +x+ from both sides
+5x+%2B+2+=+-5+
Subtract +2+ from both sides
+5x+=+-2+-5+
+5x+=+-7+
Divide both sides by +5+
+x+=+-7%2F5+
----------------------
check the answer:
+3x+%2B+1+=+%28%28+x+-+5+%29%29+%2F+2+
+3%2A%28-7%2F5%29+%2B+1+=+%28%28+-7%2F5+-+5+%29%29+%2F+2+
+-21%2F5+%2B+5%2F5+=+%28%28+-7%2F5+-+25%2F5+%29%29+%2F+2+
+-16%2F5+=+%28%28+-32%2F5+%29%29+%2F+2+
+-32%2F5+=+-32%2F5+
OK
