Question 973820: If a worker has completed 5/8 of a job, what percent of the job remains to be completed? Found 2 solutions by Boreal, Edwin McCravy:Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source):
There are EIGHT EIGHTS in a whole job. The worker has finished FIVE
of those EIGHTS, so the other THREE EIGHTS of the job remain to be
completed.
We write THREE EIGHTS as a fraction
We divide the denominator into the numerator to change it to a decimal:
.375
8)3.000
2 4
60
56
40
40
0
Then we take the quotient as a decimal .375
Then we change the decimal to a percent by moving the decimal
two places to the right and putting on a %
Answer 37.5%
