2x+3 = 5x-.75
Subtract 2x from each side
3 = 3x-.75
Add .75 to each side
3.75 = 3x
Divide each side by 3
1.25 = x
If PRODUCT was correct, then:

6x = 5x - .75
Subtract 5x from each side
X = -.75
