Here is the math problem that I was given:

I multiplied both sides by 3:
2x-1+%2B+%28%283-9x%29%2F7%29+=+21-6x
Next I multiply through by 7:
14x-7+%2B+3-9x+=+147-42x
Combine like terms:
-151+=+-47x
Divide to solve:
x=3
but 3 does not work when I check it, what did I do wrong?

you multiplied both sides by 3:
2x-1+%2B+%28%283-9x%29%2F7%29+=+21-6x..... that is correct
Next you multiply through by 7:
14x-7+%2B+3-9x+=+147-42x..... that is correct
5x-4+=+147-42x
5x%2B42x+=+147%2B4
47x+=+151
x+=+151%2F47=> this is exact solution
or approximately x+=+3.212765957446809=>x+=+3.21
