x = y/2
1x + 2y = 135
substitute y/2 for x
y/2 + 2y = 135
multiply both sides of = by 2
y + 4y = 270
5y = 270
y = 54 and x = 27, therefore
there are 27 $1 coins and 54 $2 coins in the bag
