You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Multiply both sides by 7%2A8.....

16y-56=7y%2B14

9y=70

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(2y-7)/7 = (y+2)/8
Solving for y:
Multiply both sides by the common denominator 56 to get rid of the /7 and /8:
8(2y-7) = 7(y+2) Now multiply to get rid of the parenthesis:
16y-56 = 7y+14
Subtract 7y from both sides:
9y-56 = 14
Add 56 to both sides:
9y = 70
Divide both sides by 9:
y = 70/9; or in mixed numbers:7-7/9; or in decimals 7.778
