the general equation of a line can be represented as y=mx + c
where m is the slope and c is the y intercept
slope of the line between any two points is given by (y2- y1) / (x2 - x1)
therefore for the given points slope is 4 -0 / 0-12
= -1/3
also given the y intercept is 4 . hence, c=4
Substituting these values in y=mx + c we have
y = -1/3 x + 4
or 3y = -x +12
or x + 3y =12
