Question 970279: What are the steps to simplify this expression?(-27/8)^(-3/4)
In word form: negative twenty-seven eighths to the power of negative three fourths.
Is there a formula for these types of problems?
I came up with one(A^(-x/y) = ((a^x)^-1)^1/y), but it didn't work.
Thanks
Micah

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What are the steps to simplify this expression?(-27/8)^(-3/4)
-----------
= (-8/27)^(3/4)
= (-2/3)^(9/4)
= (4/9)*(-2/3)^(1/4)
Any further "simplification" involves i, sqrt%28-1%29 and sqrt%28i%29
Which expression is simpler is a matter of opinion.
I would choose (-2/3)^(9/4)
or root%284%2C-512%2F19683%29
