I suspect you mean the half-angle identity instead of the double-angle identity.
Anyway, this is how you solve this problem using the tan half-angle identity.

tan(s/2)=sin s/(1+cos s)
tan(π/12)=tan(π/6)/2=sin(π/6)/(1+cos(π/6))=(1/2)/(1+√3/2)=1/(2+√3)

tan(π/12)≈0.2679
