Question 968281: -20=-3(6)^4-x is asking me to solve , and I first divided by -3 but after that I got confused on wether I should introduce a log or not because if I do I think it will make the problem harder.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Assume the problem is:
-20=-3%286%29%5E%28%284-x%29%29
dividing by -1 gets rid of those negatives, and we have
20%2F3+=6%5E%28%284-x%29%29
log%2820%2F3%29+=+log%286%5E%28%284-x%29%29%29
the log equiv of exponents
log%2820%2F3%29+=+%284-x%29%2Alog%286%29
log%2820%2F3%29%2Flog%286%29+=+4+-+x
find the logs using you calc
1.05888 = 4 - x
x = 4 - 1.05888
x = 2.9412

Check this on your calc by substitution 2.9412 for x in the original problem
