Question 967274: My problem is to simplify 2/2x+3/2x
---------
1/x+1/4x
Assuming that all variables represent nonzero numbers.
This is an online class and there is no explanation that I could find. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to look at this.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(2/2x+3/2x)/(1/x+1/4x)

which in plain text really should be done as (2/(2x)+3/(2x))/(1/x+1/(4x))

for which rendering tags will give the appearance as %282%2F%282x%29%2B3%2F%282x%29%29%2F%281%2Fx%2B1%2F%284x%29%29.

The lowest common denominator of all the fraction terms is 4x.
Multiply the entire complex fraction by 1 in the form of %28%284x%29%2F%284x%29%29 and simplify from that.
