You can put this solution on YOUR website!
i is the square root of -1, so i^2=-1 and (i^2)^2=1 or i^4=1

this means that you can divide the exponent of i by 4 and the remainder will be, in effect, the exponent

dividing -17 by 4 leaves a remainder of -1, so i^(-17)=i^(-1) or 1/i
