Question 966222: Two fishing boats leave Sandy Cove at the same time traveling in the same direction. One boat is traveling 3 times as fast as the other boat. After 5 hours the faster boat is 80 miles ahead of the slower boat. What is the speed of each boat.

I thought this may be the first equation but was unsure how to solve.
3x(5)=80+y

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Rate x Time = Distance
R%5B1%5D%2At%5B1%5D=D%5B1%5D
R%5B2%5D%2At%5B2%5D=D%5B2%5D
.
.
.
R%5B2%5D=3R%5B1%5D
t%5B1%5D=t%5B2%5D=t
.
.
.
D%5B1%5D=R%5B1%5D%2A5=5R%5B1%5D
D%5B2%5D=3R%5B1%5D%2A5=15R%5B1%5D
.
.
D%5B2%5D-D%5B1%5D=80
15R%5B1%5D-5R%5B1%5D=80
10R%5B1%5D=80
R%5B1%5D=8mph
Then,
R%5B2%5D=3R%5B1%5D
R%5B2%5D=24mph
