Question 964623: Dear Reader,
Suppose there 5 numbers : 10 , 7.8 , 5.45 , 3 , 9.4
We want to assign a probability of selection for each number,
what formula is better and based on most up-to-date theory for this selection? If you kindly provide the formula may you please provide a reference of its theory?
My formula is this: P(i) = exp -a( number / max(numbers))
a = 2
Any recommended formula is invited.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Without knowing the system, how can you assign probabilities?
If they the numbers were written on slips of paper and dropped in a hat, you would assign equal probabilities, P=1%2F5.
More information is needed to make a reasonable assignment.
