You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What is y= x^2 + 1 in polar form
When changing from rectangular form (or vice-versa), always
draw this firs:

The idea is to get rid of the letters x and the y and end
up with an equation that has only r and θ in it.

y%22%22=%22%22x%5E2+%2B+1

Write what we know about the sine and cosine:

sin%28theta%29=y%2Fr, solve for y, get y=r%2Asin%28theta%29

cos%28theta%29=x%2Fr, solve for x, get y=r%2Asin%28theta%29

Substitute in

y%22%22=%22%22x%5E2+%2B+1

r%2Asin%28theta%29%22%22=%22%22%28r%5E%22%22%2Acos%28theta%29%29%5E2+%2B+1

or

r%2Asin%28theta%29%22%22=%22%22r%5E2cos%5E2%28theta%29+%2B+1
