Question 963105: The perimeter of a triangular garden is 103 feet. The second side of the garden is twice as long as the first side. The third side of the garden is 5 feet less than 3 times as long as the first side. What are the lengths of the sides of the garden? Answer by amarjeeth123(569) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let the first side be x feet.
Then the second side is 2x feet.
Then the third side is (3x-5) feet.
Perimeter=first side+second side+third side
x+2x+(3x-5)=103
6x=108
x=18 feet.
2x=36 feet.
3x-5=49 feet.
The sides of the triangle are 18 feet,36 feet and 49 feet.
