Question 961689: Describe each of the following graphs of y. Give (a) its amplitude (if applicable), (b) its maximum and minimum (if applicable) a (c) its period. If it has no amplitude, maximum, or minimum, write "none".
y=tan3x
y=3sin1/2x
For the first one I know that the formula used is y=tanBx and b=3 and the period is pi/b=pi/3 So its amplitude is none and its period is pi/3 (I think) As for its maximum and minimum, I'm not completely sure.
For the second one, I know that the formula is y=AsinBx a=3, b=1/2, period=2pi/1/2 so its amplitude is 3 and its period is 2pi/1/2 (I think). As for its maximum and minimum that's where I am stuck again.
I would appreciate the help. Thanks! Answer by Fombitz(32388) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Period is correct.
I'm assuming the amplitude is the multiplier in front of the tangent function and not the amplitude of the tangent function itseld since it's unbounded.
Amplitude is the multiplier in front of the function which is 1.
Minimum and maximum are undefined since the tangent function ranges to .

Period is correct but not simplified.
It works out to .
Amplitude is correct.
Since the sine function value ranges from -1 to 1, the minimum and maximum range from -3 to 3.
