substitute z for (log10 x)
z^2 + z = 6
z^2 + z - 6 = 0
(z - 3)(z +2) = 0
So z = 3 or z = -2
Since z = (log10 x),
log10 x = 3 or log10 x = -2
So either x = 1000 or x = 1/100
