From 1.25 liters of copper sulphate solution containing 13.4% copper sulphate, 0.550 liters are removed. If 0.550 liters of copper sulphate is then added, how much copper sulphate will be contained in the final solution?
(it sounds really badly worded to me like it is asking 1.25-0.550+0.550 which will still equal 1.25)

You can put this solution on YOUR website! your initial solution is 1.25 liters of which 13.4% is copper sulphate.
you remove .550 liters of the solution.
you then add .550 liters of copper sulphate back into the solution.
if you remove .550 liters of the solution, then you are removing .134 * .550 = .0737 liters of copper sulphate.
if you then add .550 liters of copper sulphate, then you are adding .550 liters of copper sulphate.
you will have more liters of copper sulphate in the final solution.
let's do the math.
you start with 1.25 liters of solution that contains 13.4% of copper sulphate.
this means the solution contains .134 * 1.25 copper sulphate and the remaining some other ingredient.
you will have .1675 liters of copper sulphate and 1.0825 liters of the other ingredient.
you remove .550 liters of the solution.
this means you have removed .134 * .550 liters of copper sulphate and the remaining of some other ingredient.
you will have removed .0737 liters of copper sulphate and you will have removed ,4763 liters of the other ingredient.
you are left with .1675 - .0737 = .0938 liters of copper sulphate and you are left with 1.0825 - .4763 = .6062 liters of the other ingredient.
now you add .550 liters of copper sulphate back into the solution.
you will now have .0938 + .550 = .6438 liters of copper sulphate and you will have .6062 liters of the other ingredient.
the total liters is .6438 + .6062 = 1.25 liters which is what you started with.
the percent of copper sulphate, however, is now .6438 / 1.25 = .51504 which is equal to 51.504% of the new solution.
