You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the larger of two number is 10 less than twice the smaller number. The sum of the two numbers is 35. Find the two numbers.
L=larger number; S=smaller number
L=2S-10
S+L=35 Substitute for L
S+(2S-10)=35 Add 10 to each side.
3S=45 Divide each side by 3.
S=15 ANSWER: The smaller number is 15.
L=2S-10=2(15)-10=30-10=20 ANSWER 2: The larger number is 20.
