You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First set up an equation. Let x = the students that failed, and 8x = the students that passed.
x%2B8x=36
9x=36
x=4
So we know that 4 people failed the exam. Now, subtract 4 from 36.
36-4=32
Thus, 32 people passed the final exam.

To check:
Is 4%2A8 equal to 32?
4%2A8=32
Correct.
