Question 956408: I'm having a little trouble with Algebra 2. Here's the problem. Find the exact value of each trigonometric function.
(A) sin 270o =
(B) cot (3 pi /2) =
I'm using a TI-83 Plus calculator, but I'm not sure how to input it. For (A) I came up with 'cot 4.71', but how do I calculate it?
PS, (A) and (B) are not part of the equation, my question is just divided into two parts.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find the exact value of each trigonometric function.
(A) sin 270 degrees = -1
--------------------------------
(B) cot (3 pi /2) = 0
--------------------------------------
I'm using a TI-83 Plus calculator, but I'm not sure how to input it. For (A) I came up with 'cot 4.71', but how do I calculate it?
-------------------------
Since tan(3pi/2) = -oo, cot(3pi/2) = 1/tan(3pi/2) = 0
Or Use 1/tan(4.71) = 0
Make sure your "MODE" (3rd line) is set to RADIANS.
------------

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A.
sin+%28270%29+=-1 ....recall that angle 270° directly across 90° on unit circle; sin%2890%29° is equal to 1 then sin%28270%29° is equal to -1
B.
on unit circle %283pi%2F2%29 corresponds to 270°
Let's start with tangent. Tangent at 270 degrees is infinite. Since cotangent is the reciprocal of 270, that means you have to do 1%2Finfinite.
infinite+=+1%2F0%29, then 1%2Finfinite=1%2F%281%2F0%29=+0, which is your answer.
so, cot%283pi%2F2%29+=cot%28270%29=0

or, do it using unit circle (cos, sin) values
we now that cot%28+270+%29+=+cos%28+270+%29+%2F+sin%28+270+%29
we can see on unit circle that cos%28+270+%29=0 and sin%28+270+%29=-1
then cot%28+270+%29+=0%2F-1=0
