You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve for x
2%2F5 = %28x-2%29%2F20
:
You want to get rid of the denominators, multiply the equation by a number
that is a multiple of both denominators. In this case 20 would do it.
20*2%2F5 = 20*%28x-2%29%2F20
:
Cancel out the denominators and you have:
4*(2) = x - 2
8 = x - 2
8 + 2 = x; added 2 to both sides
x = 10
:
:
Check solution by substitute in the original equation:
2%2F5 = %2810-2%29%2F20
2%2F5 = 8%2F20; 8/20 reduces to 2/5
