We are given
area of square = area of rectangle
let s be the side of the square, then
s^2 = (s+8)*(s-4)
s^2 = s^2 +4s -32
subtract s^2 from both sides of =
0 = 4s -32
add 32 to both sides of =
4s = 32
s = 8
The length of a side of the square is 8 feet
