You can put this solution on YOUR website! We have 3 digits, two them the same;
a, a, b
Set up the equations so we can use elimination to solve this
:
Thrice a digit of a number is 5 less than twice its other digit.
3a = 2b - 5
3a - 2b = -5
If two of its digits are equal, what is the number if the sum of its digits is 13?
a + a + b = 13
2a + b = 13
multiply by 2, add to the first equation
4a + 2b = 26
3a - 2b = -5
--------------Addition eliminates b, find a
7a = 21
a = 21/7
a = 3 is the equal digits
Find b using the equation 2a + b = 13
2(3) + b = 13
b = 13 - 6
b = 7
:
the number could be 373 or 733 or 337
