Question 954241: Please help me on this!!
At a football game, a vender sold a combined total of 102 sodas and hot dogs. The number of hot dogs sold was 44 less than the number of sodas sold. Find the number of sodas sold and the number of hot dogs sold.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let x = # of hot dogs sold
let y = # of sodas sold
Now we can create an equation and plug x and y in for the # of hot dogs sold and the # of sodas sold:
x%2By=102
x=y-44
Of course, there are 3 ways in which to solve a system of linear equations: graphing, substitution, and elimination. For this system, I will use elimination. To set this up, we will subtract y from both sides of the second equation:
x-y=-44
Now we can subtract the first equation from the second equation which gives us
2y=146
y=73
So 73 sodas were sold.
Plugging the 73 back into the first original equation, we get:
x%2B73=102
x=29
So 29 hot dogs were sold.
At the football game, 73 sodas and 29 hot dogs were sold.
