$2.25A+$0.75C=$375 Substitute for C.
$2.25A+$0.75(2A)=$375
$2.25A+$1.50A=$375
$3.75A=$375 Divide each side by $3.75
A=100 ANSWER 1: There were 100 adults.
C=2A=2(100)=200 ANSWER 2: There were 200 children.
CHECK:
$2.25A+$0.75C=$375
$2.25(100)+$0.75(200)=$375
