You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Jane (j) is eight years younger than George (g)
j = g - 8
Twelve years ago, George was twice as old as Jane was then.
g - 12 = 2(j-12)
g - 12 = 2j - 24
g = 2j - 24 + 12
g = 2j - 12
How old is George now?
replace j with (g-8)
g = 2(g-8) - 12
g = 2g - 16 - 12
g = 2g - 28
28 = 2g - g
g = 28 yrs is George's age
