You can put this solution on YOUR website! waiters :w
managers: m
chefs: c

w+m+c = 23, and w = 2m, and c = m+3 So we can rewrite our initial equation, substituting like this:

m + 2m + m + 3 = 23 add m's on left and subtract 3 on both sides:
4m = 20
m =  20/4 = 5
So, we have:
m = 5 managers
2m = 2(5) = 10 waiters
m + 3 = 5 + 3 = 8 chefs
Proof: 5 + 10 + 8 = 23 We've got the right answer.
