Question 952206: At school I have to answer 10 questions, and one of the questions I don't get. It is, "The ratio of boys to girls at our school is 9:10. There are 150 students in the 6th grade. According to the ratio given, about how many boys and girls are in 6th grade (round to the nearest whole number)?" Can you please help me, I would appreciate it sooo much!!!!!!!!

There are 150 students in the 6th grade.
According to the ratio given, about how many boys and girls are in 6th grade (round to the nearest whole number)?"
:
let x = the multiplier
then
9x = no. of boys
10x = no. of girls
there are 150 students, therefore
9x + 10x = 150
19x = 150
x = 150/19
x = 7.9 is the multiplier (rounded to nearest 10th)
therefore,
9 * 7.9 = 71 boys
10 * 7.9 = 79 girls
