A+J+S=37 weeks Substitute for J and S, solve for A.
A+(A+4wks)+(A-3wks)=37wks
3A+1wk=37wks Subtract 1 wk from each side.
3A=36wks Divide each side by 3.
A=12wks ANSWER 1: They will spend 12 weeks in Australia.
J=A+4wks=12wks+4wks=16wks ANSWER 2: They will spend 16 weeks in Japan.
S=A-3wks=12wks-3wks=9wks ANSWER 3: They will spend 9 weeks in Sweden
CHECK:
A+J+S=37 weeks
12 weeks+16 weeks+9weeks=37 weeks
