Question 950847: On Tuesday Molly bought ten cds. On Wednesday half of all the cds that she had were destroyed. On Thursday there were only 22 left. How many did she have on Monday?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Monday: she has x CDs
Tuesday: she has x+10 CDs since she bought 10 more
Wednesday: half were destroyed, so (x+10)/2 were destroyed. Half were left over, so (x+10)/2 is left over
Thursday: She has 22 CDs left.

(x+10)/2 = 22
x+10 = 22*2
x+10 = 44
x = 44-10
x = 34
She had 34 CDs on Monday.
